Exploring Sustainability through Campus Living Labs
Working in support of USC’s Assignment: Earth Framework, Exploring Sustainability through Campus Living Labs (ExSCLL) invites students to learn from our world-class faculty and operational experts as they collaborate on novel, scalable solutions to our sustainability challenges.
By utilizing our campuses as ‘living labs’ for sustainability education and research, students are able to see their academic knowledge and practical skills applied in a real-world context as they shape the future of a thriving and more sustainable campus and world.
In addition to providing students with exceptional educational opportunities to effect change in our campus community, the goals of ExSCLL are to:
- Offer students paid internships through the President’s Sustainability Internship Program
- Foster enduring, collaborative, and mutually beneficial relationships between academic units and campus operations
- Spotlight innovation that comes from cross-disciplinary, cross-campus collaboration
- Leverage collaboration to achieve and surpass USC’s Assignment: Earth goals
- Provide students with an experience that links academic training and sustainability to support them in their professional and personal lives
